1. Drainscreen

Plaston’s PB1 EIF System is a mechanically fastened Class PB system that provides the ultimate in EIFS water drainage. This unique EIFS uses Plaston’s Moisture Control System, which integrates drainage channels to control the flow of water, ensuring the system remains dry and clean. To prevent water build-up, Drainscreen-PBI has secondary weather barriers installed underneath the insulation layer. To solidify total peace of mind concerning water drainage, the Moisture Control System also uses flexible membranes and metal flashings to prevent rainwater leakage. Our PB1 System, like all Plaston Systems, passes all industry standards, including ASTM codes C 630 and E-96-00e1, which specify water resistance for gypsum and plastics respectively. Both gypsum and plastic materials are used in our insulation and coatings.

Due to its remarkable water resistance and durability, Plaston-PB1 is ideal for any commercial or residential building, This Drainscreen system employs a unique base coat that contains 100% pure acrylic resins that enhance the durability of the exterior cladding.

This high-performing system is comprised of several main components, including our Moisture Control System, Plaston HCS base coat, polystyrene insulation, mesh, and a Plaston finish coat. Each component is continuously tested and inspected to ensure the highest level of quality is achieved and, as required, all of our components meet all industry standards (ASTM).

2. Plastotherm

The Plastotherm EIF System is similar to Plastonite in that it is a hard coat system using extruded polystyrene insulation. The key difference between Plastonite and Plastotherm is that the first base coat layer of Plastotherm is 6 mm (1/4) thick and it is reinforced with diamond metal lath, instead of the 3 mm (1/8) thick first base coat with fibreglass mesh used in Plastonite. In addition, the Plastotherm base coat contains chopped glass fibre strands that are dispersed throughout the 6 mm (1/4) PMF base coat. This initial base coat is much like a standard stucco wall, except that the base coat is a flexible and durable, polymer based formulation that also contains glass fibre strands for additional reinforcing and flexibility. After application of the first base coat layer, a second base coat layer is applied to prevent minor surface cracking. The second base coat layer consists of polymer based 3 mm (1/8) PMF base coat with standard reinforcing mesh. The extra reinforcement provides the finished base coat with superior impact resistance and superior crack control.

3. Premium I

The Plaston Premium EIF System is a high-performance exterior cladding that is certified as a non-combustible system, in accordance with industry standards. While all of Plaston’s systems are classified as non-flammable under Canadian Construction standards CAN-S-102, CAN-S-114-80, and CAN-S101-M89,Premium offers further protection and peace of mind against fire and fire damage. Plaston's Premium EIF System provides non-combustibility in accordance with the National Building Code of Canada, Section 3.1.5.

This outstanding system is a Class PB system that delivers protection against water damage, and is designed to be flexible and durable. Premium passes all applicable ASTM codes for safety, fire and water protection, including the D-2247-99 code for water resistance of organic coatings, which analyzes the content of our finishes for water resistance. The system also passes all applicable codes for durability, including the D 5420-98 test for impact resistance, which demonstrates the strength and durability of this versatile exterior cladding.

Premium is designed to provide commercial buildings with a non-combustible and water-resistant exterior. Every product used in this system is designed to meet these objectives. Connected using both mechanical and adhesive fasteners, the system contains non-combustible mineral wool insulation and a specially formulated non-combustible base coat. The mechanical fasteners conform to codes C954 and A548, which test for strength and durability. Corrosion resistant fasteners of various lengths combine with Plaston’s Tru-Tite plastic washers for maximum holding strength.

This versatile system has been engineered to prevent unwanted water from accessing the backup wall. A waterproof coating, combined with integrated flashing, actively pulls water away from the system thus preventing water damage. Premium not only ensures fire and water protection, but also ensures an aesthetically pleasing choice through the use of a variety of coats and colours.

All of Plaston’s Commercial, Institutional and High Rise EIF Systems meet the following requirements for fire performance (CAN/ULC-S102, CAN/ULC-S134, CAN/ULC-S101 and CAN/ULC-S114). All of Plaston's EIF Systems are awarded a CCMC #13232-R.

3. Premium II

The Plaston Premium II EIF System is a superior cladding that is modeled on the Plaston Premium EIF System. While every system is classified as being non-flammable (under the industry standards CAN-S-102, CAN-S-114-80, and CAN-S101-M89), only the Premium and Premium II Systems deliver certified non-combustibility (in accordance with the National Building Code of Canada, Article 3.2.3.7).

The added assurance of fire protection provides enhanced peace of mind to any commercial building owner. However, the Premium II System also includes many other important features, including a specially designed Moisture Control System that ensures protection against the effects of moisture build-up. This Moisture Control System includes drainage channels to control the flow of vapour, maintaining a dry and clean interior. In addition, Premium II passes all ASTM standards that apply to moisture protection in exterior cladding, including the E-96-00e1 standard for vapour transmission. The system is designed as a one-way weather barrier that repels unwanted water away from the system and channels any vapour out of the structure.

The main difference between the Premium and Premium II is that Premium II uses exclusively mechanical fasteners to connect the system to the building exterior, which translates into enhanced drainage. The mechanical fasteners pass all applicable ASTM tests, including the C 954 and A 548 codes, which test the strength and durability of the fasteners. The fasteners effectively provide room for water and vapour to exit the system by allowing a “breathable” exit point for build-up inside the cladding.

Premium II delivers more than non-combustibility and water-resistance. The exterior finish coatings available allow versatility and virtually unlimited design possibilities, which means that every building can adopt an individual, beautiful look that will complement any outdoor surrounding.
